Ideas for Sub Plans?

I'm always looking for new ideas for sub plans. Does anybody have ideas that they could share? Thanks!

  1. Here is something that I use for 3-5th grade only. What do you have?

Split the class so it is boys vs. girls. Explain to them that they will be given a word and they will have to take turns drawing the word on the board for their team and then the team has to guess what the word is. The team who gets the most right wins. Teams go one at a time and have one minute each. It works best if you choose the person to draw but try to let everyone have a turn.

Here are the rules. No talking while drawing and you can’t write words to help explain what something is. The correct answer has to be exact. If a person has no idea how to draw the word each team may use a swap only once. This means the original drawer may exchange with a guesser but of course may not be allowed to guess or share the answer. Be creative in breaking a tie if there is one.

Give one word at a time and a different word to each team.

  2. Use some how to draw books, copy pages and give each table a set. They have to create a picture out of several of the animals. people etc.. (whatever the subject matter is in the books. They love this!

ie.. If you have animal books they can create a habitat.
