What are your thoughts on how to teach kindergarten how to draw a family portrait? How much instruction do you use and how much do you let them do just what comes naturally?
Early in the year I think it's important to not overwhelm the kids with too much instruction. Focus on a few things like, using at least five colors, trying to cover blank white space, etc... Show them a few examples of family or group portraits from famous artists and then let them go to town!

ReplyDeleteThanks! I just completed this assignment with them and was a lot more loose in my instruction and the kids did wonderful.
